ICT is at the center of digital innovation and is a solution hub for communities, private and public industries. ICT is a diverse field of study consisting of many specializations that service the innovative digital world. Specializations include developing applications, analyzing business processes, storing and retrieving data, and providing secure communication platforms to facilitate effective organisational and personal decision making. The Diploma in ICT in Applications Development meets the critical need for offering ICT qualifications and producing graduates who will bring about digital solutions in the local, national and international economies.

Students who intend to enrol for ICT qualifications must have strong communication skills, be able to think logically, and work independently.

PROGRAMME CURRICULUM
DURATION: 
The Diploma in ICT in Applications Development is a three-year, 360 credit, exit level 6 qualification.

  •  Work Integrated Learning or ICT Electives III

  •  Application Development Practice
  •  Application Development Theory
  •  Information Systems III

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: 

 

Applicants with the National Senior Certificate: 
The minimum requirements for admission to a Diploma must be met. In addition, students will have the following:

Admission Point Score (APS) of 26

  •  English (Home or First Additional Language): Level 4
  •  Mathematics: Level 4

Applicants the NCV level 4

NCV level 4 with at least 50% for English (Home Language or First Additional Language), 50% for Mathematics and 70% in four IT and computer Science subjects.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL) AND CREDIT ACCUMULATION AND TRANSFER (CAT): 

Applicants wishing to be considered for admission in terms of RPL or to have credits transferred to this programme must indicate this on their application. The University policy on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT) will be applied.

PROGRESSION:

Students who successfully complete this Diploma will be able to apply for admission to an Advanced Diploma in ICT at UMP or another Higher Education Institution.
